Legal Warning

Dear customer.

Thank you for your interest in the services of our laboratory. Please, before starting the procedure for the admission of samples, read this agreement carefully, which with binding character, will be effective from the moment we receive the sample.

The admission of samples for study implies acceptance by the client of the clauses contained in this protocol in a contractual manner.

In this way we work to protect the quality of work, the interests of the client and the proper work development of the technical personnel involved.

Read the entire procedure and the information contained here in carefully, because it will be assumed that you have been informed and accept the conditions set forth therein.

The client accepts the results provided by the study of the samples that he sends us, whether it is a positive or negative result, avoiding the uttering of threats, insults and other no less unpleasant issues that may occur. We understand that it may not be in good taste to receive a negative report before a sample that is not a meteorite, but the results of the analysis will be decisive. The client always has the option of repeating the analysis (after paying the fees), or ordering it from another institution that he considers appropriate, even if the results will be diferent.

The client makes a donation of the submitted sample that is positive, which will remain archived in the laboratory’s files, as the basis for the studies that will be carried out. Accept that part of the sample will be destroyed in the preparation of the sections and cuts that are required in the work.

These samples have no commercial value and are only stored for further studies and diriment analysis.

The personal data provided by the client in the procedure will be used only for the purpose of communicating the results obtained in the laboratory.

In accordance with Law 15/1999 of December 13, on the protection of personal data, these data will not be stored or shared, and will be permanently deleted upon completion of the assignment and communication of laboratory results. In its substitution only a serial number will remain that will identify the sample and the analysis, without any link or reference to customer data.

With these legal terms in mind and read, we thank you for your trust, and we invite you to know all the data and procedures set out below.

The identification of meteorites by petrographic techniques does not compromise that advanced techniques can vary sensibly or totally the appreciations obtained by petrography. The final official confirmation of the type of each meteorite must be given exclusively in the final classification process, where advanced nuclear techniques are used in the analyzes (geochemistry, isotopes, etc.). However, remember that even when a meteorite is classified with a specific type, it can undergo reclassification at any time, even when its typology has been made official at The Met. Bull.

We are working exclusively with astromaterials.  The terrestrial rocks are not relevant in the purposes of our services, the appraisals being merely indicative. In the analyzes that we will carry out, it will be determined whether or not the samples are meteorites, and in this case of what type. It is not the responsibility of this laboratory or our study protocol to know what types of terrestrial rocks they are.

Welcome to Meteorites Lab

Welcome to METEORITES LAB,  for petrographic studies, and also preparation and conservation of astromaterials and geological samples (rocks, fossils, lavas, etc) for scientists and collectors, and classification of new meteorites in The Meteoritical Bulletin. Quite often I receive notifications from people who believe they have found a meteorite, and turn to me for study. For this reason, there is a Research protocol to which I can receive your samples for study and classification of astromaterials. Then I leave the information regarding this research protocol and how to proceed to submit your samples for analyses. Curation services are also offered for the preservation, documentation and preparation of samples. Uncovered thin section preparation service for the classification of meteorites and rock petrography sections for educational purposes.  AVOID LEGAL TROUBLES.   The identification of meteorites by petrographic techniques does not compromise that advanced techniques can vary
